Richard "Dick" Mark Keating
<p>It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard “Dick” Mark Keating wishes to announce his death on November 16th, 2020 at St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. Dick was born on April 27, 1945 to the late Jack and Mildred (Boudreau) Keating.</p> <p>Dick grew up on Rockland Road with many other Saint John families and developed a love for all sports but primarily baseball and hockey, which he played in Saint John. Dick attended local schools in Saint John but then finished his education in Montreal.</p> <p>The big city called, and Dick, with his larger than life personality, quickly answered and spent several years in Montreal in the hospitality industry. Dick returned to Saint John to live and spend time with Jack and Mildred. Dick was a well-known Taxi driver for Vet’s.</p> <p>Dick enjoyed meeting new people and had many regular customers. If you were one of the lucky tourists who entered Saint John on the cruise ships and had the opportunity to see Saint John and surrounding areas with Dick, you were in for a treat. Dick was versed in many topics such as Sports, History and Politics and loved to show “his city” to tourists and provided them with recommendations on restaurants and shops to see while in the city.</p> <p> </p> <p>Dick is survived by his brother Jack (Nancy) Keating of Burlington, Ontario, his sisters: Ann Cotone, of California, and Patricia Palmer, of Saint John. His children Andrew (Lisa) Keating, of Guelph, Ontario and Christa (David) Keating Mackay, of Burlington, Ontario; grandchildren William and Caitlyn; and long-time companion Nancy Walsh; close friend Rhoda Flood and her son Rod Flood; ten nieces and nephews as well as many cousins and friends.</p> <p>Besides his parents, Dick is predeceased by his brother and sister in law James “Jim” and Elizabeth Keating and brother in law Frank Cotone.</p> <p> </p> <p>Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).
