Richard Robert Harrington, Sr.

Richard Robert Harrington Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully at his Vero Beach, FL home on November 17, 2020, with his family by his side. He was born on June 16, 1937, in Providence RI. The son of William E. Harrington and Winifred M. (O’Day) Harrington. He was married to his wife Joan Beverly (Breedon) Harrington for 64 years. Richard was a retired owner of Dick Harrington & Sons Auto Body shop in Smithfield RI for over 30 years. They resided in Johnston, RI for 45 years before retiring to Vero Beach, FL in 2005. Richard was pre-deceased by his parents William and Winifred, brothers: William and Donald, and sister Dorothy (Harrington) Costa. He leaves behind his loving family: wife Joan; son, Richard Robert Harrington Jr. of Englewood, FL; daughter, Eileen Harrington Wood of Vero Beach, FL; son David Edward Harrington of Vero Beach, FL; son, Paul John Harrington and his wife Dara (Carnevale) of Bremerton, WA and sister, Carolyn Ann Lynch of West Greenwich, RI; 5 grandchildren: Kerri Jean; Richard Robert III; Samuel Harrington Wood – Captain USAF; Zachary Paul; and Laura Jean and 5 great-grandchildren: Paige Marie; Mya Lee; Samantha Lee; Brady Michael Wood and Isaac Vincent Wood. A private service of remembrance will be held in January 2021.
