Myrtle Alma Rice Baie Verte, Newfoundland and Labrador Obituary

Myrtle Alma Rice

It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Myrtle Alma Rice announces her passing. Myrtle passed peacefully away at the North Haven Manor, Lewisporte, NL on Thursday, November 19th, 2020 at the age of 92 years. Myrtle was blessed with a long life of health, built on a foundation of love and generosity for her family, countless friends, church and community. To the world she was one person, but to those who knew and loved her she was the world. Caring, loving, and gracious her house was a home to all, a warm welcoming place for all her family and friends. Determined, committed, strengthened through life’s experiences, unphased by hard work and thriving on fun gatherings, music and laughter; she was most content preparing a meal, making a bed and tending to others. Spirited through relationships she was to so many, the matriarch, their rock, the glue, their go to and the know all. Her devotion knew no boundaries and she has left a legacy of love, patience and kindness we were blessed to have known and will be honoured to take forth. Myrtle is predeceased by her husband - Pearce Rice; daughters - Albertha, Edith and infant daughter; - parents - Pearce & Albertha Rice; siblings - Rose Robinson (Doug) and Dorcas Banks (Harry) and brother-in-law - Lee Gavin. Left with many fond and loving memories are her children - Betty Whiteway (Aubrey) and Wayne Rice (Jane); grandchildren - Karen Pond (Perry), Lori White (Edward) and Laura Curtis (Jamie); great-grandchildren - Maria & Ian Pond, Hadley and Isaac White; siblings - Reverend William Rice (Rowena) and Ruby Gavin as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Public Visitation took place at Foster Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL on Saturday, November 21st, 2020, following specific guidelines related to the global pandemic and associated restrictions. Reverend Bill Rice conducted a Private Family Funeral Service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Baie Verte, NL on Sunday, November 22nd, 2020. Interment followed at St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery, Westport, NL. Additional Funeral Arrangement details will be announced as they become available. As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Myrtle's memory to the Rice family. All donations will be divided among St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Baie Verte and St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery, Westport. We encourage extended family and friends to share condolences, memories and/or photos to Myrtle’s memorial wall, available on our website. All items will be documented and displayed in our personalized guestbook and presented to the Rice family. “Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast, there by His love o’ershaded, sweetly my soul doth rest!” Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Foster Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL. “A Source of Peace in the Midst of the Storm”
