ROME – Ronald Evans Eggan, Sr., 73, of Rome, New York, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, Town of New Hartford. He was born on December 7, 1946, in Rome, a son of the late John D., Sr. & Grace (Evans) Eggan. Ron was a graduate of R.F.A., ‘Class of 1964.’ Ron worked at Rome Savings Bank (later became Berkshire Bank), for over forty years. His title was Purchasing Director/Assistant Secretary of Business Management. Ron enjoyed fishing on the St. Lawrence River and loved his late dog, Mitsie. For quite a while his son Patrick lived with Ron and Ann and they enjoyed that. Ron would talk to anyone about fishing. He was a fisherman through and through. He loved fishing, camping and he had many good conversations with anyone he could about fishing. Ron enjoyed watching the NY Yankees, SU basketball and the NE Patriots with Tom Brady. Survivors include Ron’s wife, Ann, of 23 years; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ron Jr. and Annabelle Eggan, Pennsylvania and David and Amanda Eggan, Mississippi; a brother-in-law, Frank Borbely; five grandchildren, Cory Schultz, Pablo Alarcon, Daniel Alarcon, Maci Eggan and Kynleigh Eggan; and one great-grandson, Ryker D. Schultz. Ann’s children are Mark (Francesca) O’Connor, Springfield, VA, Lisa Craig, Pleasant Hill, CA, and Patrick (Kim) O’Connor, Brooklyn, NY; eight grandchildren; and several nieces nephews and cousins. Ron was predeceased by his son, James D. Eggan; his brother, John D. Eggan, Jr.; and sister, Carol Borbely. Ron’s family had his final care arrangements established with Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea and Martin L.
