Trino Boix Middletown, New Jersey Obituary

Trino Boix

Trino Boix, 76, of Middletown, NJ, passed away on November 18, 2020 at Riverview Medical Center. He was born in Regla, Cuba in 1944 and moved to the United States when he was 16 years old. He worked as a foreman for Sea Land Service for 40 years before retiring in 2004. Trino was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved to fish, shop for bargains at the Collingswood Flea Market, tinker in the garage, play the slots at Atlantic City, and go on cruises to the Bahamas with his wife of 19 years, Constance. Surviving are his beloved wife, Constance Boix; daughter, Lisa Boix; son and daughter-in-law, Trino Boix and Mary Obropta; brother and sister-in-law, Jose and Gladys Boix; and 5 grandchildren, Christina, Julia, Matthew, Isabel, and Aviva. Trino was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Boix in 1998. They were married for 34 years and lovingly raised two children. Visitaton will be Saturday, November 21 at 10 am at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home. A funeral Liturgy will be offered at 11:30 am at St. James RC Church, Broad St., Red Bank. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Thoughts shared by his eldest granddaughter: “He lived for the ideals of the American Dream. He became the father of a uniquely American family with stories and cultures from different parts of the globe. He and my grandmother raised my incredible mother and uncle, built a life from nothing. He started his American life working on the docks and continued there for 40 years. He never had a college education, but made sure that both of his children and his grandchildren would have the chance to. He was never shy about saying what he believed in, but always put his family before everything. Most of all, I think what I learned from him is that love doesn’t always have to be a grand gesture. My grandfather showed his love by throwing me into a pool, teaching me how to train a dog, letting me ride around on his back like a horse, or hopping around on the floor like a frog from my favorite TV show as a kid, letting me name him after said frog, the name that would stick for my entire life. Minga, I love you, I miss you so much already. I will be with my family in spirit as we grieve for your passing. I will try my best to always remember to fight on, and love as you did: unconditionally.”
