Anthony Ray Rodriguez Obituary

Anthony Ray Rodriguez (Tony) was called home on the morning of November 16, 2020, at the age of 67 in the company of his wife who continued to give him care, love and support until the end. Tony was born in Roswell, NM on March 2, 1953 to Carmel and Pauline (Sandoval) Rodriguez who have preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his brother Andrew and sisters, Connie Perez and Delores Rodriguez.

Left to cherish and carry on his memory is his best friend and soulmate Rosella Rodriguez; his son Daniel and wife Deanna Rodriguez of Albuquerque; his six grandchildren: Jonah and wife Korinna, Bishop, Markus, Aleksander, Asher, and Lillie; and his brothers and sisters: Esperanza Zapada, Alex (Maggie) Rodriguez, Libby (Manuel) Ruiz, Alfred Rodriguez, Gloria Rodriguez, Rebecca Barraza, and Priscilla Lujan. Also surviving him are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tony was a humble man, accepting his pain calmly and without complaint, a man who was deeply private for the majority of his life. He enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to music. In his younger years Tony was employed as a house painter. He was also a truck driver with Roswell Ready Mix for several years. His later working years were spent peacefully on the grounds of the Poor Clare Monastery where he was employed as the groundskeeper. He cherished the solitude of the job and the opportunity to serve God’s chosen.

Tony will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Due to the current pandemic and to respect everyone’s safety and health a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice, especially nurse Roberta Chaves, for her spirit in caring for Tony.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

We do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters,

about those who have fallen asleep,

so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose,

so too will God, through Jesus,

bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
