<p>Billy Lewis (Bill) Weaver [January 17, 1941--November 19,2020] was born at Glasgow, KY, the only child of Jesse and Lucy (Flowers) Weaver.&nbsp;&nbsp;His schooling included grades 1-9 at Temple Hill School, grades 10-12 at College High School in Bowling Green, KY, undergraduate and graduate work at Western Kentucky State College (now Western Kentucky University), and graduate work at Indiana University.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;During his graduate work at IU he met the love of his life (Karen Jean Hawkins of Bedford, IN), who was also doing graduate work at IU.&nbsp;&nbsp;They married on December 29, 1967.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>His teaching career included 4 years in the Bowling Green Public Schools, 1 year at West Texas State University, 9 years at Western Kentucky University, and 28 years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Over the years, Bill attended Temple Hill Missionary Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Bowling Green, and Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Birmingham.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by Karen, his wife of 53 years, and their children: Emily Kay Weaver Johnson (Eric) of Redmond, WA and Derek Lane Weaver (Pam) of Birmingham and by grandsons: Owen and Lincoln Johnson and Aidan and Asher Weaver.&nbsp;&nbsp;A post-cremation memorial service will be at 11am on Thurs. Dec. 3 at Dawson Memorial Church, located at 1114 Oxmoor Road in Birmingham. Masks and social distancing in seating arrangements is required. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Dawson Preschool Ministries or Kids Connection.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was very fortunate to have had great grade and high school classmates, students, colleagues, neighbors, &amp; wonderfully thoughtful and considerate relatives and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;Also, no patient could ever have more skilled and compassionate care than was provided by Stan Massie, M.D.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
