Karen Elaine Fentress Hardinsburg, Kentucky Obituary

Karen Elaine Fentress

Karen Elaine Fentress, age 61 of Falls of Rough, KY died Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born in Hardinsburg, KY on January 22, 1959. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Karen often said what she was most proud of in life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Three roles she mastered with ease, grace and a few swings of the purse to the back seat. She was caring, kind, funny, a little scatter brained and always the one in the room you could hear above all others. She never failed to offer a loving word, a kind smile and a helping hand.

Karen was happiest in life preparing breakfast for the Fentress men on opening morning, waiting for "her boys" to get done riding 4 wheelers so they could raid her snacks and enjoy a meal at her bar, or singing Christmas songs much too early in the year.

But her true joy was her grandbabies. Watching them, spoiling them, singing with them, crafting with them, having them over for sleepovers so they could stay up all night, or rocking them all day while insisting to her daughters-in-law that "of course she put them down during nap time!"

She will be missed most for her infectious laugh, tight hugs, true presence, and love only someone like her could give. We rejoice knowing that Karen is with Jesus, giddy that she gets to know what grandbaby # 4 is before anyone else.

She was preceded in death by her father Charles Fentress and her mother-in-law Anna Lee Critchelow.

Karen is survived by Ricky, her husband of 42 years.

Sons: Matthew Fentress and his wife Rackel and Ryan Fentress and his wife Dayna of McDaniels, KY

3 adorable grandchildren: Hayden, Hadley, Rylee and Baby Fentress due in March 2021

Her mother Shirley Wilson Fentress of Harned, KY

Brother: Chuck Fentress and his wife Donna of Harned, KY

Sister: Jill Lamb of Florence, KY

Father-in-law: Clinton Fentress of Falls of Rough, KY

Brothers and sisters-in-law: Wayne (Vicky) Fentress, Greg (Debbie) Fentress, Dobie (Norma) Fentress, Bruce Fentress, Peggy (Butch) Meriwether, Patty (Perry) Lee and Pam (Barry) Hart

many nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11 AM with Fr. Tony Stevenson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM and Friday from 9 - 10:30 AM. Pallbearers will be Matthew, Ryan, Bruce and Wayne Fentress, Donnie Butler, Brent Fentress, Josh Watson and Aaron Henning. Honorary pallbearers will be Hayden, Hadley and Rylee Fentress, Tommy Wilson and Greg Fentress

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to St. Romuald School.
