Craig Sapp Obituary

Mr. Phillip Craig Sapp, 62, of Cottageville, entered into rest Monday evening, November 16, 2020, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro as a result of injuries sustained during an automobile accident.

Born December 7, 1957, in Statesboro, Georgia, he was a son of Mrs. June M. Calloway and the late Mr. M. L. Sapp.  He was the founding owner of Lowcountry Junk Car Recyclers in Round O, a business that he devoted himself to completely and built from the ground-up through a strong work ethic.   He started in scrap metal in his teenage years and over the years obtained his own self proclaimed PHD in scrap metal and left behind a legacy in the junk business.  He loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed fishing.   His greatest joy in life was his family.  He devoted every minute possible to his children and grandchildren.  Cooking for his family was also very important to Craig.  During his retirement, he became the new “Daddy Daycare” for his grandchildren.    He enjoyed people and loved singing.

Surviving are: his wife of thirty-three years, Mrs. “C.J.” Sapp; his mother, June Calloway of Edisto ; four children, Tiffany Baker and husband Kevin of Walterboro, Jessica Sapp of Walterboro, Phillip Tylor Sapp of Walterboro, and Kaci Jewel Sapp of Cottageville; a brother, Steve Sapp; eight grandchildren, Latrell Jenkins, Immanuel Berry, Makenzy Hand, Kenneth Hand, Warren Craig Hand, Bryan Bell, Easton Ray Sapp, and Grayson Parker Sapp; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sandra A. Ray.  In 2018, he was preceded in death by his son, Tony Ray Sapp.

Funeral services will be conducted at  3 o’clock Friday afternoon, November 20, 2020, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony until 5 o’clock that afternoon.  The service will be live streamed through The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapels and Crematory Facebook page and website.
