SUMMERVILLE – Harry Samuel Sims, 75, husband of 53 years to Janice Morris Sims, died Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Summerville Medical Center. Born May 5, 1945, in Florence, he was a son of the late Samuel Eli Sims and the late Dorothy McKenzie Sims. After 36 years of service, he retired as a clerk with CSXT Railroad. He loved to fish, ride motorcycles, dance, and gardening. He was happiest swinging in his swing and rocking in his rocking chair. He also enjoyed many of his retirement years cheering and watching his grandchildren participate in sports. He is survived by his wife of Summerville; a son, Samuel Matthew Sims (Jenni) of Summerville; two grandchildren, Cody and Kylie Sims; two sisters, Rebecca Coleman and Jeanette Mixon (Douglas), both of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Scott Sims; and a brother, Clayton Sims. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 27, 2020, at New Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Atkinson officiating.
