Renate Jordan, 75, of Arkansas City, died Sunday (November 15, 2020) at her residence surrounded by her family. Due to COVID -19 Quarantine the family has postponed services for a later date The casket will be open all day, Thursday, at the funeral home. Those attending services or visitation are requested to follow all Covid-19 mandates including the wearing of a mask and social distancing. Renate was born October 14, 1945, in Germany, to Otto and Ilse (Michaelson) Pesher. She moved with her mother and step-father Heinz Jasmer to DeSmet, South Dakota, and was sponsored by the local Lutheran Church. Her family moved to South Bend, Indiana, where she graduated from high school in 1964. She married Robert K Jordan, Jr. in June of 1965. The couple had two daughters. Renate worked as a clerk for Grave’s Drugs of Arkansas City for 48 years, retiring earlier this year. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon for many years. Survivors include her two daughters Dawn Jordan, Heidi and husband George McDowell all of Arkansas City; eight grandchildren Jordan McDowell, Zack and wife Sarah McDowell, Madison McDowell, Mason McDowell, Hunter McDowell, Trevor McDowell, Gabby Schauf and Bobby Schauf; three sister-in-laws Sandy Day, Kathy Whitford, and Anita Thomas; her very best friend Virginia Parker; and beloved cat Benji. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Spencer McDowell, Aunt and Uncle Christel and Gunter Kunz. Memorials have been established with the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the First Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
