Mavis Barnett

Mavis Hudson was married to Leslie Barnett on November 27, 1952 in Fisty Kentucky. One year later, Leslie entered the Airforce where he served 27 years. They raised three children, Janet Marlene, Leslie Estill, and Kenneth Darrell in Minot, North Dakota. Mavis loved living in North Dakota where it was cold and snowy during the winter months. In 1978 they moved to Portland, Oregon where they owned and operated a convenience store called The Minit-Mart until retirement. Mavis continued to live in Portland Oregon following the death of her husband in 2008. In May 2017 she moved to Independence, Missouri to live with her son, Leslie Estill and daughter-in-law, Debra. Mavis loved the Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Independence, MO since 2017. Mavis enjoyed traveling, playing with her dog, April, playing board games (especially Chinese checkers), puzzles and doing hand embroidery and quilting. Grandchildren: Elizabeth Barnett, Sarah Taylor, Jonathan Barnett, Savannah Catron, Kayla Lester, Tina Miller, Teri Maraman. Great grandchildren: Evelyn Taylor, James Taylor, Paul Barnett, Amber Hughes, Cody Miller, Jeffrey Maraman, Nash and Sammie Lester and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Siblings & their spouses: Carvon Hudson, IV (and Alice) Hudson, Billy (and Geraldine) Hudson, Glenna Howard, Helen Smith, Samuel (and Susan) Hudson. Sister-in-law: Marie Fugate. Graveside Services for Mavis Barnett will be held at Mountain Memory Gardens, Friday, November 20, 2020 at 2:00PM with Primitive Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Memory Gardens, Hindman, KY. Friends may call for visitation at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel, Friday from 1PM until time of service at 2PM. Arrangements by Hindman Funeral Services, Hindman, KY.
