Mitchell – Ava Lavone Hollenbeck, 91, went to her heavenly home Saturday, November 14 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Due to Covid concerns, a private, family service will be held Wednesday, November 18 at 10:30 am at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Stickney. Ava Lavone Hollenbeck was born June 8, 1929 to John A. and Hazel Johnson in Stickney, SD. She attended country school near Stickney before moving with her family to Nampa, ID where she graduated from high school. He was united in marriage to William Donald Hollenbeck in 1948 in Nampa. Ava worked for Birdseye in Nampa until 1962 when they moved back to Stickney where Ava worked as a waitress in the local café. She was an avid gardener, grew all kinds of flowers and enjoyed gathering together with friends and family to drink coffee and play cards. Ava went to her heavenly home Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD at the age of 91. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Roger (Vikki) Hollenbeck of Stickney; 3 grandchildren: Jennifer, Patrick, and Karen; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and a daughter and son-in-law, Linda (John) Seebach.
