Gilda “Jill” Orioli Forster

Gilda passed away on November 12, 2020 in Bluffton, SC.  She was born in Rochester, New York on February 29, 1940 to the late Alfred and Jennie (Basile) Orioli.  She was preceded in death by her younger sister Lucille Orioli.  After receiving an Associate’s Degree from the Rochester Business Institute she then was employed by the University of Rochester where she remained for her entire working career.  She retired from the Computer Science Department in March 2003 and moved down to Bluffton.  After retiring, Jill spent a great deal of time volunteering on projects for her church as well as community services such as Literacy Volunteers of the Low Country.  She loved being with young children and was involved in caring for several of them during her retirement.

Jill is survived by her brother Robert Orioli and sister-in-law Donna, her nephew Chadd Orioli (Danielle), her niece Rebecca Valencic (Joseph), and her grand-nephews and niece, Tyler, Zachary, Michael and Luca Orioli; and Joseph James (JJ) and Lucy Valencic.

A memorial service will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church for family.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 351 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, SC  29910 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, 7 Plantation Park Dr., Bluffton, SC  29910.

Sauls Funeral Home and Crematory, 90 Simmonsville Rd., in Bluffton will be assisting the family with arrangements.
