<p>Mr. Larry J. Bowers, was born on June 25, 1952, in Lexington County and resided in Chapin, South Carolina.&nbsp; He was the son of the late John Adam Bowers and Elnora Suber Bowers. &nbsp;He departed his life on Wednesday, November 11, 2010.</p> <p>Larry joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chapin, S. C. at an early age, and was a faithful member.&nbsp; Larry was educated at Chapin High School of Lexington County, and attended Midlands Technical College and Columbia Commercial College for his secondary education.</p> <p>Larry&#39;s extracurricular activities included football, baseball and track.&nbsp; Larry received various athletic awards including Best Defensive Back and the Senior Award.&nbsp; He was recognized and &nbsp;featured in Who&#39;s Who for the South Carolina High School Athletics Association (1968-1969).&nbsp;</p> <p>Larry was a certified electrician and was employed as an Industrial Electrician for various reputable companies including FN Manufacturing, Fluor Daniel, Norris Industries, Project Construction Corporation,&nbsp; and he retired from&nbsp; Angelica Textiles in December 2019.&nbsp; His employment location sometimes included dual locations and travel to other states including Virginia, Pennsylvania and Wyoming.</p> <p>Larry was proceeded in death by the following: John A. Bowers (father), Elnora S. Bowers (mother), Sarah Bowers (sister), John C. Bowers (brother), Mike Bowers (brother), Ralph Bowers (brother), and Chris Bowers (brother).</p> <p>He leaves the following to cherish his precious loving memory: his beautiful wife of 48 years, Barbara J. Bowers; one son, Lawrence Adam Bowers of Clemson, SC; two daughters, Carla Venita Bowers Mayers (Sylvester O&#39;Neal Mayers)&nbsp;of Glen Allen, VA; Angela Michelle Fowler (Travis A. Fowler) of Chapin, SC; two surviving brothers, Jerry Bowers (Linda) of Chapin, SC and Ruby Bowers (Brenda) of Clarkton, NC; three surviving sisters, Hattie Pearl Metze (Willie) of Irmo, SC, Ellen Frances Bowers of Columbia, SC and Jacqueline Bowers of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, Sylvester Deshon Mayers, Leyla Nicole Mayers, Raiah Celise Mayers, Ricky Javon Caughman, Roshon M. Graham and Londyn A. Fowler.</p> <p>He also leaves a mother-in-law, Mary Alice Burton, father-in-law, Isaac Burton; four&nbsp; brothers-in-law, Theodore Summers, (Brenda), Elmer Frank Summers, Robert Summers, Kelvin Summers (Barbara) and two sisters-in-law, Ivy Tucker (Brian) and Marjorie Bowers (late Chris); four great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.</p> <p>Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chapin, SC.&nbsp; All in attendance are ask to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Mr. Larry J. Bowers, was born on June 25, 1952, in Lexington County and resided in Chapin, South Carolina.  He was the son of the late John Adam Bowers and Elnora Suber Bowers.  He departed his life on Wednesday, November 11, 2010.

Larry joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chapin, S. C. at an early age, and was a faithful member.  Larry was educated at Chapin High School of Lexington County, and attended Midlands Technical College and Columbia Commercial College for his secondary education.

Larry's extracurricular activities included football, baseball and track.  Larry received various athletic awards including Best Defensive Back and the Senior Award.  He was recognized and  featured in Who's Who for the South Carolina High School Athletics Association (1968-1969).
