A private funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church. &nbsp;A public visitation will be held Tuesday, November 17th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Social distancing and masks are required.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Roger W. Jaster was born August 29, 1934 at Cavalier, ND to Edward and Hilda (Skoje) Jaster. He grew up and attended school at Cavalier, graduating from Cavalier High School. In 1952, Roger enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard, where he served until his discharge in 1955.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On August 24, 1956, he married Beverly Chapman at St. Thomas, ND. They moved to California where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and McDonald-Douglas. In 1958, they returned to Cavalier where he worked for Nodak Rural Electric and then owned and operated Jaster&rsquo;s Furniture. Roger also worked part-time for the Postal Service in Cavalier.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a lifetime member and former chief of the Cavalier Fire Department. Roger was also a member of the Tongue River Masonic Lodge and the Cavalier American Legion.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He is survived by his wife, Beverly; children: Mark (Laurie) Jaster, Oklahoma City, OK, Peggy Blackwell, Dalzell, SC, Holly (Marv) Giesbrecht, Altona, Manitoba; grandchildren: Kyle (Lindsay) Akins, Kris (Stephanie) Akins, Lisa (Dean) Dingle, Chris (Jenny) Rabb, Scott Yingling (Lindsay), Emily, Gracie, and Shelby Giesbrecht; great-grandchildren: Charles, Alexa, William, David, Annelise, Carolyn; Logan, Noah, Amelia, Audrey, and Ben.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings: Donald, Lloyd, and Betty.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Obituary

     Roger Jaster, 86, of Cavalier, ND passed away Friday, November 13, 2020 at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. A private funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church.  A public visitation will be held Tuesday, November 17th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.      Roger W. Jaster was born August 29, 1934 at Cavalier, ND to Edward and Hilda (Skoje) Jaster. He grew up and attended school at Cavalier, graduating from Cavalier High School. In 1952, Roger enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard, where he served until his discharge in 1955.

     On August 24, 1956, he married Beverly Chapman at St. Thomas, ND. They moved to California where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and McDonald-Douglas. In 1958, they returned to Cavalier where he worked for Nodak Rural Electric and then owned and operated Jaster’s Furniture. Roger also worked part-time for the Postal Service in Cavalier.
