Julianne Halvorson Obituary

Julianne Halvorson, 86 of Rugby, died Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Haaland Home in Rugby. She was born on December 15, 1933 to Jack and Amelia (Schiff) Duchscher. Julianne was raised on the farm south of Rugby, where she attended rural school and graduated from Rugby High School. She attended Minot State College summer school and taught rural school for two years. She was united in marriage to Gerald Halvorson on July 19, 1954. The couple made their home in Rugby. In 1969, she went to work for Jacobson’s Department Store and after that Johnson’s Department Store until 1980. The coupled moved to Lake Metigoshe in 1990, where they built a retirement home and enjoyed many years. In 2004, they returned to Rugby to live. They took many trips and enjoyed their traveling. She loved walking outdoors daily weather permitting, crocheting for others or just for fun and loved being with her grandchildren whenever she could. She was a member of the Little Flower Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, the Rugby Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary. Julianne is survived by her two sons, Larry (Pat) of Minot and Rob (Sherry) of Rugby; daughter, Debbie (Kent) Sussex of Keshena, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Dana Halvorson, Danielle Halvorson, Craig (Tarah) Madsen, Michele (Mike) McGee, Ryan (Kaysie) Sussex, Kimberly (Jamie) Nelis, Bryant (Mary) Halvorson, Chelsea Halvorson and Kyle Halvorson; great grandchildren, Aiden & Nolan Madsen, Callista & Lilia Keller, Sioux McGee, Rhett, Ada & Maris Sussex and Simon Nelis; sisters, Bernice Kirchofner, Caroline Bickler, Helen Kremer, all of Rugby and Evelyn (Tim) Blessum of Minot; brother, Howard Duchscher of Rugby; sister-in-law Mary Duchscher of Rugby; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; twin brother, James Duchscher; brothers-in-laws, Wendell Bickler, John Kirchofner, and Phil Kramer; sister-in-law Liz Duchsher; and her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Little Flower Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Father Anthony Cruz, Celebrant. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with a rosary and vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Rugby.
