It is with deep sadness, yet joyful anticipation, that the family of the late Gertie Eileen (Mitchell) Gray announces her passing. Gertie passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Friday, November 13th, 2020, just three days after her son, Cluney. Gertie was 93 years of age. Gertie is predeceased by her husband - Clarence Gray; parents - Eli & Alice Mitchell; parents-in-law - John & Maude Gray; sons - Manuel Gray (Viola), Willie Gray and Cluney Gray; grandson - Rodger Foster; great-grandson – Charles Martin; son-in-law - Boyce Ward; daughter-in-law - Sharon Gray; siblings - Daisy Bartlett (Doug), Daisy Richards, Manuel Martin (Lydia), Hazel Burton (Randolph), Gladys Hughes and Lloyd Mitchell; siblings-in-law - Arthur Gray (Annie), Willie Gray (Lizzie), Charlie Gray (Vera), Josephine Wimbleton (George), Elizabeth Bath (Thomas), Harriet Morey (Fred) and Emma Lacey (Harry). Left a lifetime of wonderful memories are her children - Shirley Gray (Bob), Randolph Gray (Pauline), Hayward Gray (Donna), Betty Osbourne (Malcolm), Velma Morey (Harvey), Dorothy Foster (Augustus), Scott Gray (Norma), Rick Gray and Diane Martin; daughters-in-law - Ivy Gray & Wavey Gray; son-in-law - Garry Martin; 40 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law - Violet Mitchell and Arthur Richards (Eileen) as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and innumerable friends. Public Visitation took place at Zion Pentecostal Church, Shoe Cove, NL on Sunday, November 15th, 2020 from 7:00-9:00PM, following specific guidelines related to the global pandemic and associated restrictions. Pastor Norman & Shirley Slade conducted a Private Family Funeral Service at Zion Pentecostal Church, Shoe Cove, NL on Monday, November 16th, 2020. Interment followed at Zion Pentecostal Cemetery, Shoe Cove, NL. As an expression of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Gertie's memory to Zion Pentecostal Church, Shoe Cove, NL. We encourage extended family and friends to share condolences, memories and/or photos to Gertie's memorial wall, available on our website. All items will be documented and displayed in our personalized guestbook and presented to the Gray family. "When my weary eyelids close and I've sunk to sweet repose, singing hallelujah! hallelujah! as I go - all my troubles will be past, I'll be free from sin at last and I'll leave my sorrow here below. When I wake up in Glory and to Jesus, I'll sing, redemption's story; I shall see Him, blessed be, He who has bought me to be free - when I wake up in Glory by and by!"
