Jared Lynn Camacho Obituary

On November 10, we said a tearful goodbye to our beloved son and brother as he was called home to be with his Heavenly Father.  Jared was born on November 3, 1983 in Salt Lake City to Byron and Patrea Camacho.  He spent most of his life living in Draper, Utah.  During Jared’s life, he suffered from severe seizures, which hindered his physical and mental development, yet he bravely faced these obstacles and was loved by all who knew him.

A big part of Jared’s life was attending Danville Day Services, where he participated in enriching activities such as cooking, crafts, shopping and visiting fun places.  He would excitedly talk about the workers Tami, Lu, Tina, Alisha and Scott, tattling on fellow participants and tell others about Vivian, the therapy dog, who would try to eat his food.  For 10 years Jared participated in Special Olympics and was assisted by his coach Kelly Harris.  He earned many awards and medals which he proudly displayed.  His favorite event was bocce ball, but he also excelled in the softball throw and running.

For many years, Jared loved attending the LDS Special Needs Activity Program (SNAP) and participating in fun activities like talent shows, road shows, dances and crafts.  His favorite event was the annual Halloween Party where everyone got to dress up in costumes.  After each event he would not only eagerly talk about the fun he had and show off the crafts, but he also showed appreciation for the priests and laurels who were assigned to work with him, by telling his parents that he always wanted to be with his “best buddies.”   Those who served within these inspired programs have been blessed to know Jared.  His family also expresses appreciation to all who, over the years, worked with Jared, so that his life could be enriched while he lived here on the earth.

Jared attended church with his parents and would on many occasions join in singing some of the hymns.  Christmas songs were his favorite, especially Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and Silent Night.  Seeing Christmas through the eyes of Jared was like seeing wonder through the eyes of a child.  Jared loved his family and enjoyed visiting grandma and grandpa.  When visiting with extended family he would excitedly tell everyone about his latest activities and accomplishments.  Jared especially liked to eat enchiladas when they were served at family gatherings, since these were his favorite food.

Jared was nurtured in a wonderful home where mom and dad provided the tremendous care that he needed and made great sacrifices on his behalf.  Now that he has passed on, he will be sorely missed by his family.   He is survived by his father and mother Byron and Patrea Camacho, brothers Christopher Camacho (Cathy) and Jason (Angelika) and nieces and nephews Ashleigh, Charlie, Piper, Matthew, Josh and Ethan, and grandparents Lynn and Jean Smith.  Jared is preceded in death by his younger brother Jonathan Camacho, and grandparents David and Rose Camacho.

Although Jared was considered “special needs,” he was always endearing to those who knew him, and all who knew him came to love him. His boyish charm and sweet personality will always be remembered with fondness.  While Jared will be greatly missed on this side of the veil, we know that he is happy in his heavenly home, united with his brother Jonathan, and unencumbered by the physical limitations he experienced here in mortality.

Unfortunately, Jared succumbed to complications from  Covid-19.  During his final stay at St. Marks hospital he received exceptional care from the doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists.  The family expresses appreciation to all those individuals.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a small graveside service will be held November 14 at the Larkin Cemetery for immediate family.  We wish Jared God-speed.
