JoAnn Economou, 7/23/47-11/10/20, passed peacefully in Boca Raton, Florida, after a long and valiant fight against breast cancer.  Loving wife of Walter (Chip) Chapman, sister to Mary Kay Prout, Helen Lang, Bill Economou, (Cindy), and Susan Marciniak, (Ed).  Sister-in-law to Amy McCullough, (Mark), and James Chapman. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Violet. Loved by her nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.

A passionate teacher, JoAnn was born in Michigan, earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education. JoAnn relocated to Washington, D.C., and pursued a career in the hospitality industry, and married Chip in 1987. Together, they relocated to Boca Raton, in 1995, where their love for the ocean led her to spend weekends at the beach.  

JoAnn had a kind word, and smile for all who crossed her path, she dedicated herself to her family, friends, and the many students she touched  @ Grandview Preparatory, Saint Paul, and Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church. JoAnn maintained her presence in the South Florida hospitality industry by representing Petrossian Caviar since 2002. JoAnn supported her community through her volunteer commitment to her neighborhood HOA, serving as an officer and representative for 20 years. 

A private, funeral service will take place on Friday, November 13, at Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church.  Monetary donations in memory of JoAnn can be directed to Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church, 2100 NW 51st Street, Boca Raton, Florida 33431.
