<p>Tommy Gerald West, 85, a former&nbsp;La Grande, Oregon resident, passed away at his residence in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on November 10, 2020.&nbsp; A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Oregon with Pastor Troy Teeter of the Baker City Church of the Nazarene officiating.</p> <p>Tommy was born on June 13, 1935, in Sudan, Texas, to Roy West and Thelma (Tate) West.&nbsp; He graduated from Sudan High School.&nbsp; After high school, he joined the United States Army serving for five years before separation at the rank of Specialist.&nbsp; His time on active duty included 16 months in Korea. He spent the next 30 years working as a highway engineer for the Oregon Department of Transportation, retiring in 1995.</p> <p>In El Paso, Texas, Tommy married Carol J. Williams in 1960; they had two sons together, Brian and Tracey.&nbsp; He lived in La Grande, Oregon, for 47 years, only recently moving to Albuquerque to live with his son, Brian.</p> <p>Tommy was a VFW lifetime member; he enjoyed Bingo at the La Grande Senior Center and Wildhorse as well as playing slot machine games on his tablet.&nbsp; He also enjoyed crossword puzzles and word jumbles from the newspaper.</p> <p>He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Brian &amp; Dawn West of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Tracey &amp; Nancy West of Redding, California; his brother and sister-in-law Gary and Gale West of Denver, Colorado.&nbsp; He is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.</p> <p>Tommy is preceded in death by his wife, Carol West.</p>
