Ned O. Himes

Ned O. Himes, 86, of Abbeville, SC, husband of Linda Evenson Himes, died Friday, November 6, 2020 at Self Regional Healthcare. Mr. Himes served in the National Guard, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel after 29 years. He was a member of the Abbeville Lion’s Club, Main Street United Methodist Church, and was active with veteran’s groups in Abbeville. Mr. Himes was preceded in death by his parents, Ferman and Madge Trexler Himes; a son, Larry Himes; a daughter, Karry Irvine; and a sister, Rueann Hyska. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda, of the home; his children, Chris Tiner, Gregory M. Irvine, J.C. Irvine (Sherry), Rick Himes and Tim Himes; one brother, Nick Himes; one sister, Pam Wiler; a brother-in-law, Eric Evenson (Shelly); a sister-in-law, Ellen Hutson; grandchildren, Major Jared Himes (Alicia), Dylan Himes, and Colin Fraley; and extended family and friends, Patti Himes-Fraley and Wilma and Frank Phillips. Funeral services will be 3:00PM, Friday, November 13, 2020 in the Harris Funeral Home Chapel with full military honors. Burial will follow at a later date in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Michigan.
