Rev. John Lewis Allen
<p>Spring Creek, Reverend John L. Allen, 72, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family that he loved dearly.</p> <p>John proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army 1st Calvary Division. He was employed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 32 years before his retirement in 2002. He loved camping with his grandchildren and spending time on the lake. He faithfully served both the Fines Creek and Spring Creek communities as a pastor and minister of the gospel. John loved playing and singing southern gospel music. He was a leader, provider and caretaker who will be greatly missed by all who knew this great man of God.</p> <p>John was preceded in death by his father, Robert Taylor Allen, and his mother, Elva Massey Coward; five brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 50 years, Georgia Suttles Allen; son, Reverend Ronald Allen (Kathy); daughter, Audrey Davis (James); grandchildren, Shaina Allen, Jordan Mayas (Joseph), Auston Gaddy (Tatiana), Larissa Blythe (Glen), Kassandra Davis and Kaylee Payne; 4 great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Nicholas Mayas, Grayson and Braydon Gaddy; 6 sisters, Lucille, Lorena, Debbie, Elaine, Brenda and Patti; 2 brothers, Raymond and Roger; along with several nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends.</p> <p>A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Thad Rogers Cemetery in Fines Creek with Reverend Ronald L. Allen officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home.</p>Obituary
