<p>Spring Creek, Reverend John L. Allen, 72, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family that he loved dearly.</p> <p>John proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army 1st Calvary Division.&nbsp; He was employed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 32 years before his retirement in 2002. He loved camping with his grandchildren and spending time on the lake.&nbsp; He faithfully served both the Fines Creek and Spring Creek communities as a pastor and minister of the gospel.&nbsp; John loved playing and singing southern gospel music.&nbsp; He was a leader, provider and caretaker who will be greatly missed by all who knew this great man of God.</p> <p>John was preceded in death by his father, Robert Taylor Allen, and his mother, Elva Massey Coward; five brothers and three sisters.&nbsp; He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 50 years, Georgia Suttles Allen; son, Reverend Ronald Allen (Kathy); daughter, Audrey Davis (James); grandchildren, Shaina Allen, Jordan Mayas (Joseph), Auston Gaddy (Tatiana), Larissa Blythe (Glen), Kassandra Davis and Kaylee Payne; 4 great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Nicholas Mayas, Grayson and Braydon Gaddy; 6 sisters, Lucille, Lorena, Debbie, Elaine, Brenda and Patti; 2 brothers, Raymond and Roger; along with several nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends.</p> <p>A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Thad Rogers Cemetery in Fines Creek with Reverend Ronald L. Allen officiating.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home.</p>
