She attended St. Mary’s Schools, graduating in 2003. She went on to attend University of Nebraska at Kearney and University of Nebraska Medical Center in Kearney, graduating in 2008 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She started her career at Nebraska Medicine in the cardiac care unit. She continued her career in the step down unit at Faith Regional until she returned to O’Neill. She worked as the MDS coordinator at the Good Samaritan Society in Atkinson until she transitioned to the director of nursing at the nursing home in O’Neill. Michelle concluded her career at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in the surgery department where she made her second family. She continued to work until her health no longer allowed. In 2002, Michelle met the love of her life, Luke Bulau, at Gibson’s Discount Center, where they worked together. From that moment they were inseparable. The couple wed in 2009 and to this union 5 children were born: Lily, Jack, Emma, Ellie and Hatti. Together they enjoyed doing home renovation projects and rarely did she miss one of Luke’s basketball games to support his teams over the years. Michelle loved gardening flowers, home decorating, spending time with friends and family, and celebrating any occasion that warranted a get-together. She was especially proud of her t-shirt business, Two Bits and then some. In 2018, Michelle became part of the Pink Bandana family supporting others throughout Nebraska also enduring breast cancer. She returned each summer to participate in their mud volleyball tournament. Most of all, she loved watching her children grow. She will be remembered for her strong faith, kind heart, stubborn streak, and devotion to her spouse, children, family, and friends.
