Leo R. Weix, age 85, of Abbotsford, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at the Colby Retirement Center under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice. A public visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Timothy Oudenhoven will officiate. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Family and friends can watch the service live on the funeral home’s Facebook page or after the service anytime on Facebook or the website. Leo was born on June 28, 1935, the son of Martin and Mary (Tambornino) Weix in Colby. He attended Colby schools. On July 3, 1956, Leo was united in marriage to Marilyn Stark in Forest Lake, MN. Leo was employed at Packaging Corporation of America for 42 years. After retiring from PCA, he worked at Coast to Coast Hardware in Abbotsford for a few years and Cliff’s Service Station for 13 years. Leo was vice-president of the Paper workers Union Local 803 and a Boy Scout leader for 19 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the guitar, wood carving and small engine repair. Leo is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn of Abbotsford; six children: Brian (Carol) Weix, Theresa (Bill) Denzine, Peter (Sheri) Weix, Sarah Weix (Ric Harris), Andrew Weix and Cynthia (Brian) Brandow; six grandchildren: David Denzine, Aaron Reise, Jessica (Josh) Short, Phillip Weix, Becki (Kurt) Suleski and Emily Brandow; three great-grandchildren: Austin Rupe, Logan Suleski and Kenlyn Short. He is further survived by four sisters: Irma Kilty, Laura Riese, Mary Helen (Norbert) Dittner and Rita (Don) Schnabel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Henry, Alphonse, Leonard and Paul; two sisters: Patricia and Mary Ann. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Humane Society.
