Leron Vercell Owens Jr. Obituary

Leron Vercell Owens Jr., age 60, entered Eternal Rest, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 while a patient at Carolinas Medical Center-Main, Charlotte, North Carolina. Born August 18, 1960 in Troy, North Carolina, Leron was the son of the late Arthur Jr. and Virginia Thomas Owens. When tomorrow comes and Leron is no longer with us we will remember him with fondness and thanksgiving; for all the shared memories, for the blessing he was to us, and a life well-lived. We will not forget his kindness, generosity, and loving demeanor.

He was educated in the Stanly County, North Carolina public schools and graduated in the Class of 1968 from Albemarle Senior High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. Leron served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was employed with Price 66-Auto Mechanic Shop.

Leron attended Thomasville Baptist Church, Mt. Gilead, North Carolina. When he was not maintaining his automobiles, he enjoyed cooking, watching his favorite western television programs and ‘cheering-on’ the Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Gary Leake and James A. Leake.

Those who survive Leron are his wife, Sharon Collins Owens, Charlotte, North Carolina; sons: Leron V. Duncan, Albemarle, Kayon M. Owens Sr., Norwood, North Carolina and Leron V. Owens Jr., Albemarle; daughters: Chassity Robinson, Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Victoria Collins, Charlotte; brother, Larry Owens, Charlotte; sisters: Barbara A. Ingram, Sylvia Owens, both of Albemarle, and Jewel Wilson, Moravan, North Carolina; grandchildren: Alasia, Jamir, Iyanna, Gabrielle, Kayon Jr., Kayonna, Khamani, Kaiden, Chloe, Amiyah, Kamiir and Kelis; nieces and nephews who were reared like Leron’s children: Marcus, Toshia, Lareika, Anthony and Jamisha; other relatives and best friends: Henry Edwards and Clarence Griffin.
