Ormand Bruce Eastman

Ormand Bruce Eastman, age 94, passed away November 7, 2020. Ormand was born in Whittier, CA, the first child of Barney and Katheryn (Doty) Eastman. He went through his school years in California. In 1944, when he turned 18, he enlisted in the Navy and spent the balance of WWII on a destroyer minesweeper, USS Fitch, in the South Pacific. In 1949, he met Patsy Rettig, and the two were married in December. They had four children. They lived in Southern California until 1963, when they moved to Sunnyvale, CA. In 1971, they moved to Montana and in May of the following year, purchased the Proctor Store in Proctor. The Eastmans enjoyed storekeeping until their retirement in 1993. During their retirement years, they did some traveling in their motor home, working part-time in RV parks and campgrounds. In 2014, Ormand went to Washington, DC on the final Montana Honor Flight for WWII veterans. His son-in-law, Jeff Hunter, went with him as an escort. Many photos were taken and brought home as a memento of the trip. Ormand is survived by his children: Linda Williams, Kenneth Eastman and Susan Hunter; grandchildren Raymond Williams, Amber Williams and Reka Hulford. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patsy, who died this past June; his younger brother, Raymond; his daughter, Julianna; and a grandson, Gene Hulford. Cremation has taken place and a combined Celebration of Life service with his deceased wife, Patsy, will be held at a later date.
