Edwin Judson Booth Obituary

Edwin Judson “Peabody” Booth, Jr., age 87 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Sunday morning, November 8, 2020 at West Virginia Caring Hospice at Elkins, WV. He had been in declining health. He was born Friday, October 27, 1933 at Parsons, WV, a son of the late Edwin Judson Booth, Sr. and Catherine Pase Booth. On December 4, 1953 at Oakland, MD, he was married to the former Wanda Jean Bohon, who survives. They had celebrated sixty-six years of marriage. Also surviving are one son, Steven Jeffrey Booth and wife Rebecca of Hendricks; one daughter, Brenda Jean Farnsworth and husband Dan of Houston, TX; one brother, Robert Alan Booth of OH; one sister, Margaret Chase, Gillett, WY; seven grandchildren, Steven, Jennifer, Erin, Chelsie, Katelyn, Adam, and Kellie; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are one son, Edwin Alan Booth; and five sisters, Marjorie Hedrick, Eloise Kosta, Joan Poling, Winifred Cyrus and Lillian Perella. He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1951. He was a former employee of McClain Printing for thirty years. During March of 1985, he purchased the Hamby Press, which was wiped out during the November 1985 Flood. In 1987, he purchased Toms Printing at Harpertown. He along with his wife was the owner and operated the Booth Printing Company in Parsons, until his retirement in 2014. He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church at Parsons, where he was very active in the United Methodist Men’s and he enjoyed helping with their fellowship breakfasts, and the food pantry. He was a member of the Pythagoras Lodge # 128 A.F. & A.M., the Tygart Valley Shrine, Beni Kedem, the Shriner Clowns, and the Scottish Rite. Well known for his ornery jokes, cooking skills, and enjoyed being jailed for comments made on Facebook, He enjoyed hunting and taking children to Erie with the Shriners. His nickname “Peabody” came from him being mischievous as a child….... Another Story. The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 10 AM to 1 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 1 PM. The Rev. Jeff Anderson and The Rev. William Brown will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV, where the Pythagoras Lodge #128 A.F. & A.M. will conduct ritualistic rites. As we continue to follow the CDC guidelines, social distancing as well as masks will be required for those in attendance. The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 1645 West eight Street, Erie, PA 16505.
