John Earl Stidham Obituary

On Friday, November 6, 2020 we shared a tender farewell with John Stidham, as his family surrounded him with love. He battled a courageous fight against cancer.
John Earl Stidham was born on August 4, 1966 in Provo, Utah to Robert and Ruby Stidham. John was the middle child with 3 older siblings and 3 younger.
He graduated from Hillcrest High School where he was on the Wrestling Team and Football team. He went on to complete his studies at the University of Utah.
John is married to his sweetheart Jill (Josephson) Stidham and between the two of them, they loved their 3 sons tremendously. Max, Zack and Tyson were their whole world. They continued John’s legacy of his love for sports. They competed in football, wrestling, basketball and lacrosse and were mainly coached by their Dad.
He began his career with AT&T doing wiring, installing, maintaining and programing phone and business systems. His division was later sold to Lucent Technologies and Avaya. He rebranded himself 8 years ago and became an IT manager for Sutter Shared Services. He loved the people he worked with and built lasting friendships.
He was a very skilled and learned man. He knew how to build anything and helped build our family home. He was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. He helped his three sons earn their Eagle Scout Rank in the Boy Scouts of America. He loved nature, the outdoors and fishing.
John’s greatest legacy, other than his three sons, will be the boys he coached and mentored. This great man has positively impacted so many in our community. He has coached football for 20 years. He began coaching football for Brighton Little League and he continued coaching for the Bingham Little League program for 18 years. He was on the Bingham Football Board, coached Jr. Jazz basketball and Pop Warner baseball as well. When he was a kid, he didn’t have many sporting opportunities because of money. Some parents and coaches helped him and encouraged him. He worked hard in life. In his 20’s he started to Pay it Forward. He coached. He sponsored kids who couldn’t afford to play. He gave gear, and rides, and time, and dinners to those who needed it. He was the father figure and friend to so many. He paid it forward over and over and over throughout the years. He has funded, mentored, coached, parented, and advocated for so many. Everywhere we go, someone comes up to him and says ‘Hi Coach!’ The best payback is that John will live on in each boy he coached. He taught more than football. He taught boys to be great men. He changed their lives because he believed in them and loved them.
John is survived by his wife Jill, his sons Max, Zack and Tyson. His siblings DeBee Stidham, Robert (Susan) Stidham, (Dale) Frame, Mike (AJ) Stidham, Shanti (Nea) Akayla, Victor (Nicole) Schmitt. His many nieces and nephews and in-laws. Preceded in death by his Mother Ruby Martinez Stidham Schmitt, his sister Vicki Frame, niece Brandi and nephew Josh Frame.
So here we are, mourning a great man, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend. Be we also rejoice in his life. That he had great love, enormous accomplishments, many epic adventures and great faith. God be with you till we meet again Love.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 9th. Due to Covid-19 regulations the services will be for family only. The broadcast will be available on Zoom.
