James (Jim) Booy Obituary

James (Jim) Booy was born in Red Rock Township, Pella, IA, on October 14, 1933, and passed away in Sun City West, AZ, on November 3, 2020.  He was an awesome ‘big brother’ to 7 siblings, and when asked, he left school to help support his family.  He joined the USAF in 1955, and while teaching at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO, he met the love of his life, Carolyn Hilsabeck, on a blind date.  They married in 1957, and had two children, Lacinda and Timothy.

After leaving the Air Force he worked for an electronics company in Denver until returning to his career with Pella Corporation as an Industrial Engr.  Jim retired as president of Cole-Sewell, a door manufacturing division of Pella Corp., completing over 35 years with Pella.

During his career, and in retirement, he was very active in both civic organizations and church.  He loved being busy, and enjoyed the outdoors.  He truly enjoyed working with wood and spending time at the Sun City West Woodshop, his ‘daycare’ home away from home.

Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn; daughter Cindy Wilwert (Bob), son Timothy Booy (Regina), six grandchildren, two sisters and four brothers.

A private internment of ashes service will be held.

Memorials may be directed to Desert Palms Presbyterian Church, 13459 W. Stardust Ave., Sun City West, AZ 85375, or Sun Health Foundation, 14719 W. Grand Ave., Surprise, AZ 85374.
