Ian Frederick Meadows Obituary

MEADOWS, Ian-age 78 of Enfield passed away peacefully on November 4, 2020 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax Infirmary Site. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Max and Frances (MacIntosh) Meadows. Ian was above all an educator. His life’s passion was assisting others in improving their abilities. Most of his teaching career was spent at HERH in both senior and junior high grades. Ian’s recreation centered on teaching and organizing weightlifting skills to many, many young people. His greatest pleasure was seeing his weightlifting team members achieve their “Personal Best” lifts, be it in competitions or at club level. From an early age, Ian enjoyed travel. On one of these trips he met a young lady from Trinidad named Carol. She became his beloved wife of over 52 years. Ian and Carol have always enjoyed socializing with friends, relatives, and neighbours. Nothing pleased him more than spending time with their company. Ian is survived by his loving wife, Carol; brother, Jim (Judy); several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. Due to COVID-19, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Caring and Sharing-Angel Tree Food Bank, 50 Old Enfield Road, Unit 2 Enfield, NS B2T 1C9. Tributes, words of comfort and memories of Ian may be shared with the family at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
