A liturgy of the word for Sandy will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday November 11, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Lefor, ND (for immediate family only). Family and friends are invited to the Lefor KC Club for a light lunch and social gathering. Sandra (Sandy) Frieze, 74, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at her home in Dickinson, ND. The livestream will be active 15 minutes before her service. Sandra Katherine Cherney was born March 25, 1946 to Frank and Pauline (Reindel) Cherney in Dickinson, ND. She graduated from Lefor High School. Sandy married Leonard Frieze on October 2, 1965 in Lefor, North Dakota. To this union three children were born, LaRae, Todd and Troy. Together they started their family in Mott and later moved to Hettinger where Sandy worked as the Activities Director at the Hillcrest Care Center. After Sandy retired she still enjoyed working in the local nursing home at the coffee shop and playing cards with the residents. Sandy found great joy in entertaining her family with her cooking and baking, including her delicious German dishes and her grandkids’ favorite rolls. She also enjoyed spending time sewing, playing cards, watching old Westerns and most of all spoiling her grandchildren. Sandy will be remembered by most by her fun loving personality, wondrous dance moves, and the love for her family. She is survived by her children, LaRae (Alec) Pattison, Concord, CA, Todd (Julie) Frieze, Richmond, VT, Troy (Sheri) Frieze, Bismarck, ND; brothers, Fred (Tammy) Cherney, Marvin (Rhoda) Cherney, Mike (Bernice) Cherney, Lynn (Debbie) Cherney, John (Victoria) Cherney; sisters, Carol (Jim) Keck, Paulette Cherney, Eva (David) Rohr, Roxann Cherney; grandchildren, Melinda (Tyler) Daley, Brett Christman, Tyanna (Jack) Elikofer, Breonna Pattison, Tyler Frieze, Quinlynn Pattison, Kai Frieze, Emily Frieze, Tanner Frieze; great-grandchildren, Ava Elikofer, Lincoln Elikofer, and Jaxon Daley. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pauline Cherney; and niece, Kimberly Cherney. For those attending the service, please adhere to social distancing guidelines provided by CDC and ND Department of Health.
