SUMTER – Donald Evans, 62, died Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Beaufort Nursing and Rehab. Born January 5, 1958, in Manning, he was a son of the late Wilson Ernest Evans and the late Wavil Bradshaw Evans Smith. He was a US Army veteran. He is survived by a son, Donald Evans, Jr. of Sumter; two grandchildren, Christine Evans and D.J. Evans, both of Sumter; two brothers, Arnold Evans (Ilona) of Columbia and Ronald Evans (Marian) of Alcolu; a sister, Angela Evans Duke (David) of Gaston; the mother of his son, Stephanie Reed Evans of Sumter; special friend, Vera Gainey of Sumter; a stepfather, Bobby Smith of Kingstree; and a sister-in-law, Diane Evans Varnadoe of Manning. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Riley “Gator” Evans. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at the Manning Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Vaught officiating. Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory, 304 N.
