William C. Sutton

William C. Sutton, 84, of West Windsor, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Penn Medicine at Princeton-Plainsboro in Plainsboro, NJ. Born in Ashville, PA he was a lifelong area resident of West Windsor, NJ. He worked for Firmenich, Inc. as a production supervisor in the Flavor Division and retired after 35 years. William was a proud member of the United States Air Force, a Korean War Veteran, and was stationed in the Azores for nearly two years. He retired as an Honorary member of the West Windsor Volunteer Fire Company. William was active in the American Legion Post 148 in East Windsor, NJ and VFW in Ashville, PA. He was a devoted father and grandfather who became a well-known fan at many sporting events, cheering on his children and then his grandchildren years later. He was “Pappy” to his grandchildren, often traveling for hours to sit in the stands to show his love and support. Pappy’s famously lighthearted nature could always be counted on to make his family and friends smile and leave them wondering where he found so many silly stories and jokes, although he always had a few favorites. Those who knew William, including those who met him for the first time, were drawn to his friendliness and ability to instantly find a connection. William was also an avid slot car racer and traveled with his fellow racing friends to events throughout the east coast, a hobby that brought him great joy. In his earlier years, he had a love of hunting and spent every summer in his garden focusing on growing the next batch of Jersey tomatoes to share with family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Maude Sutton; his brothers, Alvin, Leonard, Blair, Fred, Leroy and Donald; and his sisters, Ellen, Marie and Ollie; William is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Ann (Funicelli) Sutton; his sons, Philip Sutton and Brian Sutton and his wife, Dawn; his daughter, Amy Montgomery; his grandchildren, Rachel Sutton, Cecilia Sutton, Brianna Sutton, Bryce Montgomery and Cassidy Montgomery; and his sisters, Dorothy, Rita and Margie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 9, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690, where he was a member for years. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover, NJ. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home,3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
