John Wiley Byrd, 85, of Owens Cross Roads, passed away Sunday.

He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Jo Cowan Byrd; son, Stephen Lee Byrd; mother, Bertie Lorene Adams Bird; father, Walter Lee Bird; brothers, Alton Wayne Byrd and Sammy Ellis Byrd; sister, Rosie Lucille Byrd Cowan; grand parents, Wiley Virgil Bird and Willie Ann Josephine Hunter; and brothers-in-law, James Earl Cowan, William Monroe Knight, and Roger Joel Martin.

Surviving are daughter, Rona Byrd McNelley and son-in-law, John Richard McNelley; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Waller Byrd; step- granddaughter Kelley McNelley, step- grandchildren, Nathaniel J. McNelley and Shaylynn McNelley; sister, Peggy Sue Byrd Knight; sister, Agnes Jane Byrd and husband, William Lawrence Simmons; sister, Phyllis Marie Bird and husband, Jerry William Schultz; sister, Nancy Kaye Byrd Martin; brother, Ronald Dale Byrd and wife, Pamela Jane Stapler; brother, Kevin Alan Bird and wife, Kay Ellen Rinker; sister-in-law, Sharon Nyoka Young Byrd; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David Cowan, Aaron Knight, Jacob Byrd, Lee Schultz, Nicholas Martin, Bradley Martin.

Visitation will be Tuesday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday at 1:00 pm with Tim Rice officiating.

Interment will be in the Green Valley Cemetery.
