David "Hop" Brian Hopkins

David Brian Hopkins – “Hop,” 63, from Riverton, KS, passed away October 26, 2020 in Joplin MO, from complications following surgery. Hop was born November 18, 1956 to Ruby Jean Jones and Darrel Herron. He was raised lovingly by his mother, father, and step-father Lester Jones. Hop was a 1974 graduate of Riverton High School. After graduation he was employed by Coca-Cola in Joplin and Eagle Picher in Galena. Hop was a loyal and dedicated worker, retiring from Yellow Freight in 2003. During his time of employment, he enjoyed driving his truck for deliveries and meeting people on his travels. He was a member of the Teamsters Union for 25 years. After retiring, Hop spent his time supporting Riverton Rams Athletics, working on old tractors, rebuilding motorcycles, farming, gardening, racing drag cars, riding his Harley, and taking care of his grandkids. Survivors include: Father, Deryl Herren and wife Joyce, Joplin MO. One son, Keven Rawlins & wife Laura, Baxter Springs KS. One daughter, Angela Hopkins, Baxter Springs KS. Three sisters: Susan Ashe & husband Paul, Baxter Springs KS, Jacque Jenkins and husband Jerry, Riverton KS, Marilyn Berudsis & husband Constantine, Chicago IL. Brothers: David Herron and wife Tracy, Oxnard CA, Derrol Herron Jr, TX, Stephen Hopkins & wife Diane, Fritch TX, Bob Jones & wife Rosa, Riverton KS, Mark Jones, Riverton KS, Bill Jones & wife Peggy, Riverton KS, and Wayne Jones, Riverton KS. Sister-in-laws Carole Jones, Houston TX and Anne Jones, Riverton KS. Preceded in Death: Father Lester Jones, Mother Ruby Jean Jones, brother Finis Jones, brother Gene Jones, sister-in-law Bethany Jones.
