Jeanne Heath, 90, of Gettysburg, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Avera Oahe Manor, Gettysburg.Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gettysburg with Fr. Jerry Kopel presiding. Burial was at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis.Jeanne Maltaverne was born January 25, 1925 in Gettysburg, SD to Leon Germaine (Rogissard) Maltaverne. She attended school in Gettysburg, graduating in 1943.After high school Jeanne moved to Indianapolis, IN where she worked in an airplane factory. She is what would have been considered a Rosie the Riveter; representing American women who worked in factories during World War II. Jeanne then moved to Sioux City, IA where she attended Cosmetology School. She worked in Sioux City until marrying Robert "Bernie" Heath on June 16, 1947. They moved back to South Dakota in 1948 where they raised their family, Dennis, Andrea and Jeff. All three of the children served in the service of the United States. Dennis in the Army, Jeff and Andrea in the Navy.Jeanne enjoyed working in her garden, canning, fishing, and painting homes. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society, and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.Jeanne's life will be cherished by her children: Dennis (Cindy) of Stanwood, WA, Andrea (Jim) Bauer of Granbury, TX and Jeff of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren: Shane, Brooke and Chris; two great grandchildren: Alex and Victoria; one great-great grandchild, Layden; and two brother-in-laws: Gordon Heath of Georgia and Larry Heath of Colorado.Her parents and two brothers, John and Paul Maltaverne preceded her in death.Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Jeanne's arrangements.
