It is with great sadness that the family of Valerie Madeline McCloskey announce her passing which took place peacefully at Kennebec Manor on Saturday, October 31 at the age of 86. Madeline was born in Ludlow, NB on February 14, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Alberta (McKay) Hovey. Madeline is survived by her sons, Rick (Hughina) and Glen (Rose) McCloskey, Gerald Reid (Elaine); daughter, Jennifer Henderson; brother, Duane (Lois) Hovey; grandchildren Scott, Melissa, Holly, Lisa, Branden, Megan, Jeanette, Kathryn and Avery. Predeceased by her partner Jim Henderson, daughter Valerie Colwell, Infant son Gary, grandson Matthew McCloskey; Sisters Freda Trochimchuk, Norma Hovey, Yvonne Bruce, Inez Nagles and Sheila McCallum; brothers, Malcolm, Ernest, Hudson and Guy Hovey. A celebration of Madeline’s life will be held at the St. James the Greater Anglican Church, Ludlow, NB on Wednesday November 4th at 12 noon with COVID-19 restrictions. The family would like to thank the staff of Kennebec Manor in Saint John for the kind and compassionate care they provided over for the past 7 years. In memory of Madeline, random acts of kindness or donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
