Roger William West Obituary

Roger William West of Steelville, MO, previously of Leasburg, MO, was born on Sunday, November 5, 1950 in St. Louis, MO to John William West and Alta "Madeline" (Moutray) West.  He passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Steelville Senior Living at the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 26 days.

Roger made a profession of faith at the age of 8 years old.  He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.  He lived his whole life in Crawford County and attended both Leasburg and Bourbon Schools. He was a dump truck driver and worked for Crawford County Road District #2. He loved antique cars and trucks, local history, all things western, and the Andy Griffith Show.  His hobbies included hunting and fishing and going to gun shows.  He especially wanted to be remembered for telling jokes and making people laugh with his "Roger" stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Madeline West, and brother Richard West.

He is survived by his son Courtney (Erica) West of Cuba, MO; brother Gary (Karin) West of Steelville, MO; sisters Kay (Chuck) Caltry of Sullivan, MO, and Darla West of Leasburg, MO; grandchildren Allison, Gabrielle, and Lane West; special friend Carolyne Simpson of Cook Station, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation was from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service will immediately followed at 11:00 am with Rev. Spencer Hutson officiating.  Burial was at Moutray Cemetery, Steelville, MO.
