Scott William Fisher Obituary

Scott William Fisher, 69, passed away October 22, 2020, in University Place, Washington. He was born April 29, 1951, to LeRoy Cecil Fisher and Verna Irene Madden in Indianola, Iowa. He married and divorced Alicia Lucia Watanabe. He then was in a common law marriage for a time with Christine Karczewski. In 1972, Scott briefly attended the University of Texas, lived in Peru, and then completed a degree in English at Iowa State University in 1977, where he studied under the poets Gus Gustafson and Melvin Wilke. He also briefly studied under Richard Brautigan at Montana State University in 1982, and then under Nelson Bentley PhD, a once-student and disciple of Theodore Roethke at the University of Washington. Scott also studied poetry and drama at the university of Washington, as well as acting at The Lee Strasburg Actor’s Workshop. Scott was an educated man who spoke three languages. He was a published poet under the name W.S. Fisher, a writer, a mental health counselor, a friend, brother, uncle, father and grandfather. He loved reading classic literature, collecting old music albums, and hiking. He always had many stories of his siblings and his adventures with their beloved parents. Even though Scott didn’t have many opportunities to see them, he was very proud of his three children, who were able say goodbye at his hospital bedside. He is survived by his sons, LeRoy Cesar Fisher and Brighton Fisher; daughter, Lisa Fisher DP; three grandchildren; brothers, Patrick Cosaert and Michael Cosaert; and sister, Cere Cosaert. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Tom Cosaert, Sandy Fisher, Phil Fisher, and Bud Fisher; and sisters, Marina Cosaert and Elaine Fisher. Services have been held.
