Harry A. Carpenter Obituary

Harry A. Carpenter, Jr. died peacefully at Hi-Line Retirement home in Malta on October 24th, 2020 of natural causes. Memorial service will be Friday, November 6th at 11:00 AM at Wilderness Funeral Home in Malta.

He was born on May 6th, 1939 to Marie (Crawford) & Harry A. Carpenter, Sr. in Peekskill, New York. Harry graduated from Peekskill High School in 1959. He worked various jobs in New York and California. In 1962 he volunteered to be drafted early and enlisted in the US Army. After completing basic training, he was stationed in Greenland for 2 years. Upon his discharge from the Army, Harry moved to Malta. He farmed alfalfa and potatoes, worked as a security guard at the mine, invested in multiple properties, began his lifelong passion of collecting coins, drove school bus, water truck and operated the Malta Bakery for about 30 years. After closing the bakery, Harry moved back to New York and worked as a personal caretaker for a number of years before returning to Malta. He enjoyed listening to country music, watching Fox news, and visits from friends and family. Harry was a Christian man and filled notebooks with his beliefs and faith. He had a gift of citing scripture in ordinary conversations. He attended Catholic primary school, and worshipped at other churches as well.  He often said there should be a church of Common Sense! Harry was an extremely generous man and enjoyed showering his friends and family with gifts.

Harry is preceded in death by an infant brother, Bruce, his parents, sisters Fran (Panzarella) Simmons, Geri Orendack and Bonnie Bridle.

He is survived by his sister Jude Perry, brother -in -laws Mario Panzarella and Charlie Bridle, nieces Gina Simanton, Teena Schorr, Tahme Tartakow, Judi Schorr, Bo Laux, Marie Orendack, Tonya Messerly, Debbie Kinney, Judy Fisher, nephews Leo Panzarella, Jim Panzarella, John Kinney and Ray Gilleo, special friends Inga Baumgartner & family, Marlin & Debbie Cilz, Godson Nick Cilz & family, and the Ron & Heidi Welch family.
