Benjamin (Ben) Butler Burin , Newfoundland and Labrador Obituary

Benjamin (Ben) Butler

It is with great sadness that the family of Ben Butler of Red Harbour announces his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on October 28, 2020, at the age of 85 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Mabel, sons Charles (Audrey) of Marystown; Ross (Rosalind) of Suffolk, Virginia; Kelvin (Corey) of Sydney Nova Scotia, grandchildren Emma and Jack; his brother Sam (Daphne), his sisters Cora Senior and Sheila Butler (Hubert); plus a large circle of family and friends including Mabel’s extended Kenway family. Predeceased by his parents Hubert and Malvina Butler, his Brother Dolph, his sister Maud Senior and his sister Irene Miller (Pike). Ben cherished his family like no other and embraced every moment he spent with those he loved most. To those who knew him best, Bennie Joe ( as he was affectionately called by his friends) was known for his impeccable memory, intelligence and vocabulary – which he quietly illustrated when watching Jeopardy or filling in the weekly crossword puzzle. He was a quiet, reserved, kind and insightful man who left an indelible and positive mark on all the lives he touched; he will be warmly remembered and missed by all who knew him. Visitation will take place at Serenity Funeral Home, Salt Pond Burin Thursday 2-4 pm, and 7-9 pm, Friday 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A small family service will be held at Serenity’s chapel on Saturday at 2 pm with Cremation to follow. As a result of covid limitations, Serenity will limit attendance at the visitation and the funeral service will be limited to invitation only. No flowers by request, donations may be made in his memory to the Wesley United Church Red Harbour or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin, Newfoundland.
