Jean Beth Miller Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Miller (née Bowie). Jean passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 24, 2020 at the age of 75 years old.

Jean was a long-time resident of Central Alberta. She was born on January 16, 1945 in Lacombe — and raised on the family farm in Ponoka County. She owned and operated an antique store in Ponoka for a number of years. In her spare time, Jean loved cooking, baking, and gardening. She also loved being around animals, especially horses.

Jean was an extremely outgoing person. Over the years, she developed a large friend circle. She enjoyed playing bingo, board games, and cards (especially bridge and cribbage). She also enjoyed curling and baseball. In her younger years, Jean was an avid markswoman.

She was extremely proud of her Scottish heritage. Jean’s greatest passion was her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Darlene (Michael) Morrow, Marlene (Brett) St. Denis, and Jody (Jason) Forth; her grandchildren Kyle Morrow, Keane (Breanna) Morrow, Reid St. Denis, and Jayden St. Denis; her great-grandchildren Aleah, Dante and Freya; her brothers Charlie Bowie, Jack (Judy) Bowie, and Rich (Heather) Bowie; her sister-in-law Marie Bowie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jean was predeceased by her mother Edith Bowie, her father Art Bowie, and her brother William Bowie.

A private viewing was held last week. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Jean's name are gratefully accepted to the Ponoka Hospital & Care Centre, Diabetes Canada, or Ducks Unlimited.
