Born December 31, 1926 at the family home in Havre, Montana, she was the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Bolte) Hinck. Laura was baptized on Jan. 16, 1927 and confirmed on May 25, 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Havre.
After graduating from Havre High School in 1945, Laura attended Northern Montana College for 2 years. Although she worked as a clerk at F.A. Laura married Lyle John Rutherford on Feb. 26, 1972 in Whitefish. Together, they enjoyed many activities, including traveling and spending the winters in Needles, CA and Yuma, AZ until Lyle died in 1998.

Laura enjoyed exploring and photographing the Flathead Valley and Glacier Park and loved showing them off to visitors. A musical person, she enjoyed singing. She was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls where she played the piano until the age of 89. She cultivated many friendships and had the ability to reach people in a deep, positive and humorous way.

She is survived by her niece Carole (Ken) Sweedland of Forsyth, MT; nephew Alan (Judy) Albrecht of Maple Grove, MN; sister-in-law Charlotte (Tom) Sloan of Marysville, WA; special friends: the Jim and Nicole Gray family of Whitefish; the Aric and Katie King family of Whitefish; and numerous relatives and friends.
