On Sunday, October 25, 2020, Bessie Millard (Irwin), loving wife, grandmother, and mother of five children, passed away at the age of 84. Bessie was born on August 17, 1936, in Yankton, SD to Fred and Adelaide Irwin. Bessie graduated from Elk Point High School. On April 17th, 1956, she married James Millard. Together, they raised four sons, Robert, Daniel, Henry, Thomas, and one daughter, Rebecca. Bessie had a passion for taking care of her family. She enjoyed playing cards, when James wasn't cheating. She was an excellent bowler. Bessie also enjoyed her collectibles, including salt n pepper shakers, tic tac toe games, roosters, and most importantly her elephants. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters, and one grandchild. She is survived by her husband James, five children, four sisters, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service for friends and family will be held at Jim and Bessie's home at 11842 CA RD Shepherd, MT 59079 on Saturday, October 31st, 2020 from 1 to 4 pm.
