Joe Douglas Grooms, 78, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away at Arkansas Continued Care Hospital, in Jonesboro, on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Joe was born on Saturday, October 24, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Douglas L. and Christine Wallace Grooms. Joe was a loving husband, son, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor, and friend. Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sylvia Mae Grooms; parents, Douglas L. and Christine Wallace Grooms; four sons, Doug Grooms, Jerry Roberts, Floyd Roberts, and Michael Roberts; two brothers, Richard Grooms and James Grooms; two grandchildren, Raymond Roberts and Kenneth Whatney. Joe leaves behind two sons, Joe (Debbie) Grooms, of Pocahontas, and Bobby Roberts, of Pocahontas; two daughters, Kathy (John) Donovan, of Utah, and Barbara Roberts, of Mississippi; three sisters, Jeannie (Bill) Glisson, of Maynard, Robin Dodson, of Pocahontas, and Ellen Weeks, of Indianola, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, Michael, Casey, AJ, Tiffany, Alec, Nicole, Kerrie and Robbie; twenty great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. All services will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on Sunday, November 1, 2020. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Joe’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 3:00 pm, with Johnny Cochrane officiating. The following individuals are honored to carry Joe to his final earthly resting place, Randy Mulligan, Chad Mulligan, Alec Grooms, A.J. Grooms, Aaron Grooms, Troy Grooms and Adrian Grooms. Honorary pallbearers are Kelly Grooms, Michael Grooms, Todd Grooms, Kainen Rogers, and Travis McCain.
