Henry Clay McDowell, 90, of Oak Ridge, departed this life on Saturday, October 24 at his home. He was born December 20, 1929 in Harriman to the late Ella Elizabeth McDowell. Mr. McDowell served his country in the US Air Force from 1949 – 1952. He received his Master’s Degree from Tennessee State University, Nashville. Mr. McDowell retired from the Detroit Michigan Schools as a truant officer. He was a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was an avid golfer and a fitness enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Elizabeth McDowell – Allen and stepfather Claude Allen. Mr. McDowell is survived by his sister, Alice Pettus of Oak Ridge; two daughters Pastor Michelene Millsap and husband Elder Walter Millsap Sr. of Bellflower, CA and Jeanne Harrison of Chula Vista, CA; cousins, Carrie Barksdale of Harriman and Darlene Johnson and Trellis Barksdale of Oak Ridge. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
