Jane Ellen (Strommen) Busch

On Sunday, October 25, 2020, Jane went home to be with her husband, Merlin, to whom she has greatly missed since 2006. Along with Merlin, Jane was greeted by her numerous pets over the years.  Jane loved animals. Whenever, Merlin would ship livestock, Jane would go in the house and cry because they were her pets. One heifer, Baby, she bottle fed until it was full grown.

Jane will be most remembered for having a loving and kind heart, always going out of her way to help anyone in need.

Jane was born January 21, 1926 in Pope County, the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Schefflo) Strommen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Starbuck, MN.  She attended country schools in Pope County and Glenwood Public Schools. On March 25, 1953, Jane married her soul mate, Merlin Busch. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church. Sharing a passion for farming and animals, together, they farmed in Hudson Township.

Jane died at the age of ninety-four years old at Minnewaska Lutheran Home. She was proceeded in death by her parents; two sisters: Helen Strommen and Joyce Pospisil; three brothers: Norman Strommen, Melvin Strommen and Robert Strommen; one nephew: Dale Strommen; one great niece: Tara Strommen; two sisters-in law: Norma Lea Strommen and Elda Strommen; one brother-in law: Harry Pospisil.

Jane Busch is survived by one sister: Delores Strommen (Minnewaska Lutheran Home, Starbuck, MN); six nieces/nephews: Sandra Holverson (Hillsboro, WI), Jim Pospisil (Alexandria, MN), Sharon Jirschele (Hillsboro, WI), Cathy Brown (Glenwood, MN), Tom Strommen (Brooklyn Park, MN), Judy Glandt (Grand Island, NE); two nephews by marriage: David Hanson and Larry Hanson; one sister-in-law: Lula Calhoun.

Graveside service will be held at Hudson Cemetery (Hudson Township) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020.  A Celebration of Life is planned for later spring 2021.
