<p>Funeral services for Dr. Jim Barksdale, age 91, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Kent Pate and Dr. Roy Edgemon officiating. Visitation will be held beginning at 9:30, prior to service. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Seagoville, TX with Bro. Fred Lewis officiating. Pallbearers will be Talley Dillard, Micky Eddins, Tommy Sanders, WG White, David Kirkpatrick, and Scott State. Honorary pallbearers will be the Radio Television Bible Class of First Baptist Church. Jim passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Carriage House Manor. He was born on January 6, 1929 in Ed Dorado, Arkansas, the son of Judson Meins Barksdale and Desdie Mae Sprinkle Barksdale. He married Mildred Lucille Wilson on February 9, 1974 in Seagoville. She preceded him in death on January 11, 2020. Jim served as a pastor for several different churches throughout his lifetime including Calvary Baptist Church in Santa Clara, California, First Baptist Church in Emory, Texas, and Valley View Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. He was most recently a member of First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. Jim is survived by son in law, Talley Dillard along with very close friends, Scott and Shirlee State, and Dr. Mark and Sharon Redd. In addition to his wife, Mildred Barksdale, Jim was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Teressa Dillard, and sister, Jo Evelyn Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon or Annie Armstrong Mission of First Baptist Church, 116 Oak Avenue, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482. Bro. Barksdale was pastor of Valley View Baptist Church in Longview for 15 years.  I worked with him for 6 years.  Our church gives to The Gideons instead of giving flowers.  We will all miss him.  God bless you.
