Charlene Rose Maertens

Maertens, Charlene Rose (Burgio) Spencerport: Saturday, October 24, 2020. Predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Carmella (Alongi) Burgio; sister, Joanne Barbato. She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Robert J. Maertens; children, Chris (Michelle) Rauber, Dena (John) Fedkew, Anthony (Sara) Beach. Charlene was grandmother to 4 beautiful jewels, Christianna, Matthew, John and Lorenzo. She is also survived by her nephew, Louis (Maria) Barbato; many cousins and dear friends. In her youth, Charlene spent Sundays with her family and her grandmother Josephine of Albion, NY enjoying homemade sauce. Charlene earned her cosmetology degree at Continental Beauty School earning a scholarship and trip to New York City. She enjoyed spending time with people to find their inner sparkle. Her interests included family, dancing, and being a social butterfly on the telephone. She devoted much of her energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother until she passed away at age 70. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Rd., Gates. On Thursday, October 29, all are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 9:30 at St. Theodore’s Church. Entombment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Lipson Cancer Institute (www.rrhgive.org/giving) or to a charity of your choice in her memory.
